Sunrisers Hyderabad – New players in the Squad

Sunrisers Hyderabad has become every cricket fanatic’s favourite team after finishing the last IPL season as Runner-ups. This year too SRH is in all mood to face the opponent teams at IPL Season 12; scheduled to be begin in March 2019. The team will be playing its home matches in the city’s favourite venue – Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal.

The squad for this season has already been finalised after the bidding. While SRH roped in Chris Jordan and Carlos Brathwaite; most fans felt disappointed seeing star player and opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan trading to team Delhi.

For all disheartened fans who felt that trading Shikhar wasn’t the correct decision, we list the new players who have joined the squad and are sure to give the opponent teams a tough competition.

Did you know? 3 out of the 5 new players in the SRH squad, are capped players.

  1. Martin Guptill

The 32-year-old Kiwi, Martin Guptill, isn’t new to the league. Having played previously for 2 teams including Mumbai Indians, and Kings XI Punjab, Guptill; is aware with the strengths and weaknesses of other players. Previously; Guptill had a strike rate of 132 plus. Impressed already?

Seeing his precious seasons, we are sure Guptill is going to Chak de phatte for the Orange team.

  1. Johnny Bairstow

The right-handed wicket keeping batsman from Yorkshire, is a deadly player who is surely a fear factor to the other teams; along with being blessed with deadly looks. IPL 2019 might be the debut season for Johnny Bairstow, but he is not a layman in the game. The blue-eyed tall player has cricket in running in the blood. He is son of former England wicket keeper David Bairstow. Jonny is the only England wicket-keeper twice to claim nine dismissals in a Test match including South Africa, and Sri Lanka; respectively.

With Johnny being a part of the batting squad; Sunrisers Hyderabad can repeat the 2016 victory trail.

  1. Vijay Shankar

Indigenous player; Vijay Shankar is one Indian discovery which has been a consistent performer for Tamil Nadu. The 28 year old tall batsman also made his T20I debut for India against Sri Lanka in the 2018 Nidahas Trophy where he took 3 wickets. The highly rated order batsman has been associated with IPL ever since his debut with Chennai Super Kings in 2014. He has previously played 4 matches for the Orange army in 2017 before Delhi Daredevils bought him in the Season 2018 auctions.

Vijay Shankar is an all-rounder with his medium pacing and middle order batting skills. This, without an iota of doubt, make Vijay a crucial player in helping Sunrisers reach the qualifiers and who knows the trophy might be ours again.

  1. Shahbaz Nadeem

The Indian slow left arm orthodox bowler who grasped the game at an early age and played as U-14 and U-19 for state teams. He created a world record in Vijay Hazare trophy 2018, breaking the 2-decade old record by former Indian spinner Rahul Sanghvi.

With the boldness to experiment with varying degrees of loop and an athletic fielding; Shahbaz’s future in the Orange team looks promising. His presence in the team will be of great advantage to the team as he is one young player who understands and plays his game like most senior players of the Country who made a mark from themselves in the game.

Fingers crossed!

  1. Abhishek Sharma

He is definitely the “Sharmaji ka Ladka” your parents warned you about. A hard-hitting lower-order batsman who also bowls fast and accurate left-arm spin; Abhishek Sharma grabbed eyeballs when he scored a century in Under-19 debut for Punjab in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy in 2016. Seeing his continuous fire blazing performance; Delhi Daredevils took Sharma as a part of their squad in IPL 2018. Sharma proved that he is not just an ordinary player but delivering 46 off 19 balls during his debut match.

With Sharma joining Team SRH this season, the team is ready to face even the strongest player in the series without fear.

After knowing about the new squad, we are too excited to watch the men in orange play on the home ground and know you too can’t hold the excitement to cheer live for the orange army. Why wait?
